I really like the … I really like the Yamaha grand pianos that are 6 foot and up, but today I played a 5 foot give or take baby grand and it sounded horrible. It played the same dynamic level whether I lightly touched the keys or forcefully pushed them down.
now that yamaha … now that yamaha bought bosendorfer they would be the greatest franchise with the knowledge of Bosendorfer pianos to make a piano reckonable to a steinway
I have Yamaha U1 ( … I have Yamaha U1 (late 80s) and also Disklavier U1MX (1995). The U1MX is a better piano. I also have tried YUS1 and YUS5. They are definitely better than old Yamaha pianos. However, after trying Steinway K52, I have no doubt that my next piano will be Steinway. The sound is so pleasing…Just they are damm expensive.
Pricing of pianos … Pricing of pianos is all based on what the buyer is willing to pay… for info about buying pianos you should check out “The Piano Book 4th rev” and get its Annual Supplementary currently 07-08 (it has alot of prices)
Thats really good … Thats really good BrucknerEnthusiast, its nice to see Yamaha’s work is appreciated, i personally wouldn’t have anything else.. I have tried lots of pianos around the same price as the YUS1 and nothing simplys comes close.. I was amazed to hear about the Steinway loosing out.. it doesnt suprise me really.
Steinway has had a … Steinway has had a disproportionately large share of the market for sales of concert hall instruments for decades, but I think pianists are now beginning to recognise the superior quality of craftsmanship which Yamaha now offers. We have a full-sized Steinway and a full-sized Yamaha at the university where I teach and last year ALL the finalist pianists chose to give their public exam recitals on the Yamaha.
