If it is an old upright piano it is probably very heavy. If it is an old house, I would check first to make sure the 2nd floor will support it without causing the floor to sag after a time.

When my parents bought me a baby grand piano, they put an extra joist in the basement to support the weight.

Just a thought.

Typically a music room is in the main part of the home but by all means if this is your preference then go for it. I suggest to hire professionals as they are insured.

Furniture removalists do it all the time, but the stairs have to have sufficient width.

It is fine to move a piano upstairs as long as there is room. A piano should be tuned each time it is moved.
