I know my father once stood on a Steinway baby grand to paint a ceiling (ending his career as a house painter) and he weighed about 200 lbs. at the time….

I would call the piano company and ask them for the weight tolerance of the piano. If they want to know why, you can either tell them the truth (I dare you) or make up some story about wanting to put a big, marble statue of a reclining man on it… Heh.

Oh, how I wish I could hear the end of this story…

Kudos to you for being willing to try new things, but it sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen to me. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when one or both of you explain to the ER doctor how you got there and why your grand piano is broken.

No – piano pedals are standard everywhere and the same for spinets, uprights, and grand pianos.

I've done it on a Piano you will be fine. Sit on the Piano naked first and let him bang a few keys to warm up:)

The pedals are standard the world over whether it is a Baldwin, Steinberg, or whatever. Otherwise, how else would pianist play on tours or if his piano was damaged ?
They have to rely on a common type setup just like guitars are tuned to A=440, some things never changed. Same with wind instruments.
